This week was a big one for me as I officially completed Module 3 of the Google IT Support Professional Certificate on Coursera! It’s been a week of late nights, note-taking, and I’m excited to share what I’ve learned and how it’s shaping my tech journey.

Module 3 focused on Operating Systems, and I got to dive deep into:

•The difference between Linux and Windows

•How file systems and directories are structured

•User permissions and process management

•System logs, boot sequences, and troubleshooting techniques

It was fascinating to realize how much control operating systems give us over what’s happening under the hood, and how essential that knowledge is when you’re in IT support or on the cybersecurity front lines.

One of my favorite parts was working through practical labs, where I could apply everything I learned. It’s one thing to watch videos, but another to get your hands dirty in a command-line environment.

Reflections from This Week

•I’m learning to be more comfortable in Linux, which is huge for my future in Cybersecurity.

•Every completed module makes me feel a step closer to becoming a real tech professional.

•I'm discovering how important foundational knowledge is, and why it’s worth taking seriously.

Up Next?

Module 4 — which I hear is packed with networking and troubleshooting challenges. I can’t wait!

Thanks for following along my journey. If you’re on a similar path, drop a comment or share what you’re learning too. Let’s grow together.

See you in the next post, Franklin

My name is Franklin Godknows, and I'm excited to officially begin my journey into the world of IT and Cybersecurity. Right now, I’m taking the Google IT Support Professional Certificate course on Coursera, which is to serve as a foundational step that’s helping me build strong technical skills.

Currently, I’m in Module 2, learning about computer networking:

•How the Internet really works

•What DNS, IP addresses, VPNs, and protocols mean

•How systems communicate securely

It's a whole new world, and I'm loving every bit of it!

My ultimate goal is to grow from IT Support into Cybersecurity, and later specialize in Blockchain Security, helping secure decentralized systems and smart contracts.

Through this blog, I’ll be sharing:

•My learning journey

•Lessons from real-world experiences

•Challenges, tips, and wins along the way

If you're also starting out, or you're a pro who wants to follow a growing cybersecurity enthusiast — stay tuned. There’s a lot to build, a lot to learn, and a lot to secure!
